As 1 Concert Review

Wow, 10 years ago, I never thought that these two music icons won't sing side by side in one concert. But they did. Gary Valenciano and Martin Nievera made a hit I waited for a lifetime.

As expected, they both were superb. They were unique from one another - one having more of something and less of something. But put together, the concert was a bang!

Martin played his role well. The baritone singer sang his songs and those beside me couldn't help but shout "I love you, Martin!". This guy was wacky as he always was back when he was still hosting "Martin After Dark". He wittingly criticized Gary V. and made everybody (including his concert-partner) laugh out loud. Martin knew how to get the crowd up on their toes clapping and laughing way before he starts singing his piece.

The only downside that I saw was his capacity to keep up with Mr. Energy. Martin could hardly sing after dancing side-by-side with Gary V. Nope, he was actually catching up with his breath trying to keep up the song without getting out of tune. And you can see Gary V. and the back-up singers backing Martin up. But as unique as Martin is - and was, he admitted it by making funny looks and fainting gestures after that part.

Overall, Martin was still the iconic Martin Nievera - known for many songs as Be My Lady (which he sang) and other hits from the 80's to the 90's.

Gary V. was - as always - the hyperactive one. He just couldn't sing without moving his whole body. As in -- WHOLE BODY. Nope, not even when the song was a love song. Martin even made fun of Gary V. by tying a rope around him and making him sing. A task that Gary obviously had a hard time doing. Gary was just the energy of the entire show. His songs and his dances rocked the house.

In the end, it was a team work that made it successful. Gary Valenciano and Martin Nievera made all our money and effort worth it. It was a concert like no other. It was an experience that one will always remember - especially if you are a fan of one - or both.
